Kevin McElveen has been named Olympia High School’s newest Athletic Director effective immediately. Kevin is from Safety Harbor, Florida where he attended Countryside High school and lettered in football, basketball and baseball. Kevin continued with athletics in college after receiving a football scholarship to Samford University in Birmingham, AL.
After college, Kevin began coaching and teaching at Countryside High School and then became a graduate assistant at the University of South Florida for football. Upon Graduation from USF, he moved to Orlando and began teaching and coaching football at Apopka High School. The year after winning a State Championship at Apopka, Kevin moved to Olympia High School in 2002 where he has coached football, boys and girls basketball, girls flag football and boys golf, experiencing tremendous success as both an assistant coach and head coach throughout his career.
Kevin lives in Windermere with his wife of 21 years, Kristin and his children, Emma and Will.
Kevin is excited to begin this new professional journey and stated, “This is a job that I have always wanted and now I am very excited to get started and give it my best effort.”
Principal Guy Swenson says this about hiring Kevin McElveen: “Kevin is an experienced coach and longtime teacher at Olympia. He knows our community well and will bring a wealth of experience to the role. I am excited to move in a new direction.”
